Rufisque Hall

Presentation

 Located in West Africa, Senegal extends over 196,722 square kilometers and has about twelve million. The city of Rufisque is the capital of the department of the same name that is part of the Dakar region.

Rufisque is located 25 km south east of Dakar. Its area is 42 km². Its population is estimated at about 300 000 inhabitants. Since 1996, it is divided into three district municipalities.

The establishment of the fishing village named Teung - Guedj, dates back to the 16th century. The origin of the current name is very controversial. Rufisque comes from the Portuguese Rio Fresco Re fresco or Riofisco .

In June 1880, following the example of Dakar, Saint Louis and Gorée, Rufisque was erected in City full exercise by France. Its inhabitants then enjoy French nationality.
