The Interior Ministry is headed by the Prime Minister and led by Abdoulaye Daouda Diallo since July 4, 2012.

 

Missions

 It prepares and implements the policy decided by the Head of State in terms of territorial administration, homeland security, administrative police, civil defense and organization of elections. The Decree 2012-634 of 4 July 2012 in the fixed functions: It is responsible for the territorial command and, as such, it has authority over the governors, prefects and sub-prefects, in accordance with their own powers of representatives of State. He is responsible for the administrative preparation and democratic conduct of the elections, in cooperation with the Independent Electoral Commission (CENA) and the judiciary. It manages the issuance of national identification and travel documents, and, in conjunction with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, organizes and regulates the residence of aliens in the national territory, including EU citizens who enjoy freedom of movement and establishment. It is responsible for internal security on the entire territory of the Republic. In connection with the Minister of Economy and Finance, he is responsible for protecting the economy against smuggling, fraudulent or prohibited imports. In conjunction with local authorities, it manages Community policing and ensuring the peace and maintaining order in urban areas. He has authority over the police force, subject to the powers of prosecutors on judicial police. It is responsible for civil protection and the fight against fire and natural disasters. It develops and manages international cooperation in police matters. To exercise its powers, the defense and security forces other than the police, lend him their assistance in accordance with the laws and regulations in force
