Presentation
The ministry of urban renewal , housing and living environment is under the authority of the Prime Minister and headed by Mr. Diéne Farba Sarr since 4 July 2012.
Missions
The Ministry of Urban Development and Housing prepares and implements the policy defined by the Head of State in the fields of urban planning, housing and construction. As such, he is responsible for urban planning. It ensures the development of towns and cities, in particular, through concerted action with the Ministry of Regional Development and local authorities, in terms of green spaces and leisure. He participates in conjunction with the Minister of Culture, to the protection and enhancement of the urban architectural heritage. Under planning, he developed the rules on urban planning, land use, to the operational planning, and ensures their application. He participates in the development of legislation for expropriation and monitor their application. He participates in the development of the tax and financial legislation on urban planning and development and monitors implementation. It ensures, on behalf of the state, the construction of buildings and public buildings in all departments. It monitors the national companies and public participation to companies acting in the field of Construction and Housing. He is responsible for the accreditation of cities and must take concerted action with local communities in the development of urban plan and green spaces. It ensures the preservation of the quality of the living environment. He is responsible for housing policy. As such, it ensures the quality of homes built in Senegal, their adaptation to the environment in which they are performed and compliance with building standards and predefined architecture. It works to facilitate to all citizens access to housing according to the Decree 2012-650 of 4 July 2012.
