 The idea of ??creating this place came from a Malian national named Demba Diop. The latter arrived in Senegal in 1927, he met an Italian called Ernest Christian, florist and exporter of ferrous materials in Europe in 1937. It is through this that Italian aménagea a horticultural garden in 1941 Dalifort and stared at it in a sustainable manner in 1943.

In 1957 Dalifort knew his true occupation with the arrival of its first communities. This spontaneous and gradual expansion was possible thanks to the combined action of the rural-urban migration. The institutional framework owes its existence to the deepening of a long process of decentralization initiated by the Senegalese government since 1966 to ensure local management and increased accountability of the grassroots. It is in this light that the city of Pikine was divided into 16 district municipalities by Decree No. 96-795 of 30 August 1996.

Today Dalifort is one of those towns, like the others, it is equipped with the financial and moral personality. The District Municipality of Dalifort Foirail is created April 30, 1996 by Decree No. 96745.

Located in the Dakar region is an integral part of the city of Pikine. It covers an area of ??253.67 ha, the commune has a cosmopolitan population of about 35,000 residents. The dominant ethnic group left the Hal Pulaar, followed by Serere, Wolof, Joola, and other ethnic groups.
