Biography

Director General of the National Agency of Statistics and Demography of Senegal (ANSD) since 1 August 2014, Aboubacar Sédikh Beye is engineer-economist and statistician in the development of strategic documents of development policies. Having made a career hitherto the USA, the Director of ANSD worked with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the UN Development Programme (UNDP). Seventeen years of experience in the North American private sector including statistical modeling after which he joined the former Department of Forecasting and Statistics of Senegal and contributed to the establishment of the Bank of the Social Indicators data (BADIS). In 2012, he was appointed Minister Counsellor, Head of the Economic Office of the Embassy of Senegal in Washington. Two years later, he returns home to take the general direction of the ANSD. In April 2015, Aboubacar Sédikh Beye presented a renovation project of the national accounts of Senegal to the Technical and Financial Partners (TFP). Meanwhile, he leads the ambition of a greater availability of all statistics in Senegal.
