Biography

Professor Ousmane Sene is a man of Senegalese letter. He is an associate in African and African-American literature. Past at Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar, with a mastery of English at the exit, Ousmane Sene will subsequently receive at the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Saint-Cloud and the University of the Sorbonne Paris III, for PhD in Commonwealth literature. On his return to Senegal in 1983, he joined the services of the Department of English at the University Cheikh Anta Diop of Dakar. Five and later he became the head of the department until 1998. Very mobile as part of his research, Ousmane Sene has benefited from the Fulbright Scholar at Florida American University 1992 -1993. An additional acquired which opened the doors of some major American universities as a teacher researcher. This is the case of Michigan State University, the University of Minnesota, Loyola Marymount University, among others, where the aggregate in African-American literature was to teach courses. To date in Dakar, Professor Ousmane Sene is the head of the West African Research Center commonly called WARC. It ensures the management of this prestigious research center since 2004, starting year of the Professor Wendy Wilson-Fall. However, before being appointed to this position, Professor Sene was especially President AROA (West African Research Association). It is this combination, together with the research center overseas for the West African Research Association (WARA), which gave birth to the WARC today. With extensive experience in administration, Ousmane Sene has translated this experience on several publications relating to literature and social sciences. The current director of the WARC is also a regular contributor in the Senegalese media. In English teacher, Mr. Sene has also enabled much in translation. Thus he was working as a freelance translator for international institutions such as the Pan African News Agency, USAID, and several NGOs working on development.
