Biography

Director General of the national daily "Le Soleil" since September 7, 2009, Cheikh Thiam is an economist and holds a Masters in Economics (Option Business Management) at the Faculty of Law and Economics of the University Cheikh Anta Diop in Dakar in 1990. He also holds postgraduate degrees in Marketing and Management (Master in Marketing and MBA in Marketing and Management). Former Fellow of the International Visitor Program of the US government on study tours on economic and trade relations between Africa and the United States, Cheikh Thiam was first economic journalist "Sun" in 1992, then head of Desk Economics from 1998 to 2001. He was the coordinator of the Cahier Weekly "The Sun Economy" between 1996 and 2001 and also a member of the Internet and Multimedia Unit of the "Sun" and specification coordination team bimonthly "The Sun Multimedia" from 1998 to 2000. In 2001, he was recruited to the Ministry of Economy and Finance as Technical Advisor, in charge of communication and coordinator of the communication cell, in charge of designing the communication strategy of the department and different directions (Taxes , Customs, Treasury etc.). Within the institution, he also event management major economic events. After 9 years of experience in the Ministry of Economy and Finance, it accumulates the position of General Manager of the Sun with the Manager of Grafisol SARL, a subsidiary of the SSPP Le Soleil specializes in printing work. In April 2016, he led an innovation in the national daily with the birth of the "Sun Business", an economic and financial bimonthly in partnership with Financial Times.
