Biography
A native of Joal (Fatick region), Sophie Gladima Aissatou Siby is a teacher-researcher in the Department of Geology of the University Cheikh Anta Diop (UCAD), holds a State Doctorate in Applied Geophysics in Hydrogeology and Geochemistry Isotope. President of the African Association of Women in Geosciences (Asfeg) Siby was Councillor of the Geological Society of Africa (Gsa) for West Africa and parallel responsible for the "Water and Research" commission committee tracking the Global Water Partnership. She was also national coordinator of the Network of Wetlands of Senegal to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (Iucn). Between 2007 and 2009 she was Minister of Telecommunications, Posts and Information and Communication Technologies of Senegal, in the government of Sheikh Hadjibou Soumare. In May 2012, she took the reins of the National Scientific Research Agency (Anrsa) with crosshairs as the promotion of Scientific Culture, among other sites for experimenting with Geoscience Senegal. In October 2014, Sophie Gladima Aissatou Siby led the establishment of the first Geo-Parks of Senegal sites in the Petite Côte.Tags: Agence Nat. Recherche Scientifique
