 Mr. Teuw Niane Mary is the head of the Ministry of Higher Education and Research since July 4, 2012. The department is under the Prime Minister's authority.

Missions

 The Minister of Higher Education and Research prepares and implements the policy defined by the Head of State in the areas of Higher Education and Scientific Research. As such, he is responsible for the management of public higher education. It develops and implements national university card, ensuring harmonious and equitable distribution of universities, university schools and centers throughout the country. It provides control of universities and higher education institutions under its authority, as well as private higher education structures. He oversees the development of basic and applied research in universities, regional university centers, institutes and national schools of training, and in relation with the concerned ministries, ensures the use of research findings for the benefit of national development according to Decree 2012-651 of 4 July 2012.
